The owner’s representative says “from the beginning of the project Cindy’s leadership over the design team was impressive.  She is always able to respect and maintain the visions and goals of the client while ensuring creative and fun design solutions thanks to her teamwork approach and well managed sub-consultants.  Cindy’s attention to finding effective solutions that respect the defined budget and schedule is always appreciated by owners, project managers and contractors alike.”

The 173,000 square foot $21 million Summit Middle School renovation and rebuild was a complex series of five construction phases over the course of 18-months. All of the construction occurred while maintaining school occupancy by students and staff. Over half of the original building was demolished and rebuilt and the remaining portions of the original structure was renovated. A new classroom wing and gymnasium were constructed. The original auditorium and library were renovated.

Special circulation patterns and room organization create “small learning” communities within a larger complex. “The Trail” was given to the hallway system and it was highlighted by unique wayfinding features like connects to the exterior, high ceilings, natural light, and dramatic angles.

Ms. Cindy Day served as the Project Manager and was the team leader for this project while at SLATERPAULL Architects, along with the Principle-in-Charge, Mr. Clayton Cole. Most of the client contact was done by Ms. Day.
