The BVSD project manager notes I enjoyed working with Ms. Day on four consecutive projects.

The $2.9 million addition and renovation of the historic Whittier Elementary School included about 10,000 square feet of new classrooms, a cafeteria, elevator, lift and about 15,000 square feet of renovated gymnasium, classrooms, and administrative offices.  This renovation and addition occurred with a tight schedule on a small urban site, with new construction touching three different areas of the existing building.

Whittier is the oldest continuously operating elementary school in the state. The new additions integrated the proportions and materials of the historic building in a straight-forward yet elegant design.

Ms. Cindy Day served as the Project Manager and was the team leader for this project while at SLATERPAULL Architects along with the Principle-in-Charge, Ms. Adele Willson. Most of the client contact was done by Ms. Day.
