Awarded 2004 CARE – First Place Commercial Architecture

The $6.5 million Drake Middle School included 18,000 square feet of addition and 62,000 square feet of renovation. Featuring a new infill library, main entry, administrative offices and a 8 classroom addition, building wide upgrades and renovations to Exploratory classrooms. A dynamic facade is created by intricate masonry details linking new construction to existing.  Implementing multi-phased additions on three different portions of the site and building wide renovation required skillful teamwork and project management.

The library encompasses daylighting and integration of a glazed yellow brick band in the new masonry construction is a key design feature.

Ms. Cindy Day served as the Project Manager and the team leader for this project while at Hutton Ford Architects, along with the Principle Designers, Mr. Alan Ford and Mr. Paul Hutton. Most of the client contact was done by Ms. Day.
